The growing use of digital technology has led to an increase in cases of online gender-based violence (KBGO), which in turn has influenced how digital news media construct reality through their reporting. This study aims to analyze the framing and differences in the construction of KBGO news coverage on Kompas.com and Detik.com. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis to examine the case of a University of Indonesia Law Faculty student between April and June 2026. Kompas.com frames the case as a contextual and evaluative social and institutional issue. Detik.com framed it as a high-profile current event due to its virality on social media, focusing on the chronology of the case and institutional responses in a descriptive, factual, and educational manner. Neither outlet explicitly stated that the case constituted online gender-based violence. This study is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the role of the media and gender perspectives in digital news coverage.
