Differences in feeding systems for male parent stock chickens determine the uniformity of nutrient intake, which directly affects performance. This study aimed to compare the production performance of parent stock chickens when using pan feeders and trough feeders in a closed-house system. The method used was participatory observation in a closed-house system with Ross 308 strain parent stock chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) aged 34–43 weeks in House A (pan feeder system with a population of 8,948 birds) and House B (trough feeder system with a population of 9,095 birds). The parameters observed included body weight, feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and feed depletion. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test to assess differences between the feeder systems. The analysis of the two feeding systems showed that the trough feeder system resulted in better FCR and lower feed depletion compared to the pan feeder. There were no significant differences in FI and average body weight of the chickens between the two systems.
