dc.description.abstractAktivitas pengujian performa mesin di bengkel sepeda motor pada berbagai putaran mesin (RPM) menyebabkan tingkat suara knalpot meningkat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk membuat prototipe penurun tingkat suara knalpot di bengkel sepeda motor dengan memanfaatkan serabut kelapa dan egg tray dan mengevaluasi kinerja prototipe penurun tingkat suara knalpot berdasarkan kemampuan penurunan tingkat suara. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan pengukuran menggunakan Sound Level Meter (SLM) pada variasi putaran mesin 1500 RPM sampai 5000 RPM pada sumber titik dan proyeksi pada jarak 3 meter, dan jarak 7 meter sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan alat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat suara knalpot meningkat seiring bertambahnya RPM dan menurun seiring bertambahnya jarak pengukuran. Setelah menggunakan prototipe, tingkat suara mengalami penurunan pada seluruh variasi RPM dan jarak pengukuran dengan penurunan sebesar 14–17 dBA. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan serabut kelapa dan egg tray mampu membantu menurunkan tingkat suara knalpot pada aktivitas pengujian sepeda motor di bengkel.
dc.description.abstractEngine performance testing activities in motorcycle workshop at various engine speeds (RPM) increase motorcycle exhaust sound levels. This study aims to develop a prototype for reducing motorcycle exhaust sound levels in motorcycle workshops utilization of Coconut Fiber and Egg tray and to evaluate its performance based on its ability to reduce sound levels. The research was conducted using an experimental method with measurements carried out using a Sound Level Meter (SLM) at engine speed variations ranging from 1500 RPM to 5000 RPM at the source point and projected distances of 3 meters and 7 meters, both before and after using. The results showed that exhaust sound levels increased with increasing engine speed and decreased with increasing measurement distance. After using the prototype, sound levels decreased at all RPM variations and measurement distances, with reductions ranging from 14 to 17 dBA. These findings indicate that the utilization of coconut fiber and egg tray can help reduce motorcycle exhaust sound levels during engine testing activities in motorcycle workshop.
