      Abstract

Body Condition Score (BCS) is a method for assessing the body condition of cattle based on a visual evaluation of subcutaneous fat in several body regions, such as the spine, hips, and ribs. The BCS rating scale uses a scale of 1–5. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between BCS and milk production in Friesian Holstein dairy cows at the Cikole Lembang UPTD. The method employed was a Pearson correlation test using SPSS version 26, with 40 Friesian Holstein cows, BCS, and milk production as the parameters. The observation period lasted one month. The dairy cows used were Friesian Holstein (FH) cows with a lactation period of 1–6. The results of the observations showed that the average BCS of Friesian Holstein dairy cows at the Cikole Lembang UPTD was 2.80. The results of the correlation test between BCS and milk production showed a Pearson correlation coefficient of -0.221 with a significance level (p-value) of 0.049. As BCS increased (2.5–4), milk production tended to decrease, and when BCS was in the range of (2–2.5), milk production tended to increase.
