      Abstract

Foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract are a significant problem because they can interfere with digestion and nutrient absorption, cause gastrointestinal obstruction, and even threaten the animal’s life. This case study describes the procedures for using supportive equipment, surgical preparation, and postoperative care management. This case study involves a 2-year-old male German Shepherd. Clinical symptoms included three episodes of yellow vomiting over a 24-hour period. Management of the foreign body (corpus alienum) in the German Shepherd was carried out through a systematic procedure that included a physical examination, imaging (radiography and ultrasonography), and laboratory tests to comprehensively evaluate the patient’s health status. The success of this case was also determined by intensive postoperative care, which included the administration of medications (antibiotics, analgesics, and gastroprotectants), a soft-food diet, and daily monitoring of the patient’s clinical condition until the patient showed significant recovery and was declared fully recovered after 6 days.
