      Abstract
      Kayu gmelina (Gmelina arborea) merupakan jenis kayu cepat tumbuh yang berpotensi digunakan sebagai bahan baku kayu laminasi, namun memiliki stabilitas dimensi yang relatif rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh modifikasi berbasis asam sitrat terhadap sifat fisis, mekanis, perubahan warna, dan kualitas perekatan kayu gmelina serta kayu laminasi yang dihasilkannya. Kayu diimpregnasi menggunakan larutan asam sitrat berkonsentrasi 0%, 20%, dan 40% (b/b) dengan metode vakum-tekan, kemudian dilakukan pemanasan pada suhu 150 °C. Kayu termodifikasi digunakan sebagai bahan lamina dengan perekat poliuretan, epoksi, dan fenol-resorsinol formaldehida. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi berbasis asam sitrat meningkatkan weight percent gain, solution uptake, kerapatan, stabilitas dimensi, dan perubahan warna kayu. Namun, perlakuan tersebut cenderung menurunkan sifat mekanis, keteguhan rekat, dan ketahanan delaminasi kayu laminasi. Di antara perekat yang digunakan, poliuretan menghasilkan nilai delaminasi terendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi berbasis asam sitrat berpotensi meningkatkan kualitas kayu gmelina melalui peningkatan stabilitas dimensi, meskipun diperlukan optimasi lebih lanjut untuk mempertahankan sifat mekanis dan kualitas perekatan.
       
      Gmelina (Gmelina arborea) is a fast-growing wood species with potential for laminated wood production; however, its relatively low dimensional stability limits its utilization. This study evaluated the effects of citric acid impregnation on the physical, mechanical, color, and bonding properties of gmelina wood and the resulting laminated wood. Wood samples were impregnated with citric acid solutions at concentrations of 0%, 20%, and 40% using a vacuum-pressure method, followed by curing at 150 °C. The modified wood was then used as laminae bonded with polyurethane, epoxy, and phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde adhesives. The results showed that citric acid modification increased weight percent gain, solution uptake, density, dimensional stability, and color change. However, the treatment tended to reduce mechanical properties, bond strength, and delamination resistance of laminated wood. Among the adhesives evaluated, polyurethane exhibited the lowest delamination value. These findings indicate that citric acid impregnation has potential to improve the quality of gmelina wood through enhanced dimensional stability, although further optimization is required to maintain mechanical and bonding performance.
