      Abstract

Scabies is a skin disease caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei, and this disease can infest livestock as well as pets. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of applying a combination ointment of sulfur and salicylic acid at various concentrations on healing scabies lesions in goats at the Balai Besar Pelatihan Kesehatan Hewan (BBPKH) Cinagara. A total of 5 goats infested with scabies were given 5% permethrin, vaseline albumin, and a combination ointment of sulfur and salicylic acid at concentrations of 3%, 4%, and 5%. The results of the treatment were recorded by measuring the lesion area, calculating the percentage of remaining lesions, and the daily healing rate. The data obtained was then analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the ointment applied to the goats. The results showed that goats given the 5% concentration combination ointment showed effective results with a lesion percentage of 19.13% and a healing rate of 6.29 cm²/day
