dc.description.abstractCystitis adalah inflamasi kandung kemih akibat infeksi bakteri uropatogen yang bermigrasi secara ascending ke kandung kemih. Penggunaan antibiotik yang tidak rasional berisiko memicu resistensi antibiotik sehingga membatasi pilihan terapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji tatalaksana pemeriksaan, resistensi antibiotik dan manajemen terapi pada kasus cystitis dengan multi-resisten antibiotik pada seekor anjing jantan Shetland Sheepdog berusia 7 tahun, melalui anamnesis, pemeriksaan fisik, urinalisis, pemeriksaan darah, pencitraan ultrasonografi, serta kultur urin dan uji sensitivitas antibiotik. Hasil mengonfirmasi infeksi Proteus mirabilis berkepadatan 75.000 CFU/mL yang resisten terhadap 23 dari 30 antibiotik termasuk penisilin, sefalosporin, fluorokuinolon, dan tetrasiklin. Namun, masih sensitif terhadap carbapenem dan aminoglycoside. Terapi berbasis antibiogram menggunakan Meropenem® dan Enrofloxacin® terbukti efektif, dibuktikan dengan hasil kultur urin pascaterapi. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya penerapan terapi antibiotik berbasis hasil uji sensitivitas dalam penanganan kasus multi-resisten antibiotik guna mencegah perluasan resistensi antimikroba pada hewan peliharaan.
dc.description.abstractCystitis is an inflammation of the urinary bladder caused by uropathogenic bacterial infection that migrates ascendingly into the bladder. Irrational antibiotic use risks inducing antibiotic resistance, thereby limiting therapeutic options. This study aimed to examine the diagnostic approach, antibiotic resistance, and therapy management of a cystitis case with multi-resistant antibiotics in a 7-year-old male Shetland Sheepdog, through history taking, physical examination, urinalysis, hematology, ultrasonographic imaging, and urine culture with antibiotic sensitivity testing. The results confirmed a Proteus mirabilis infection with a density of 75,000 CFU/mL, resistant to 23 of 30 antibiotics including penicillins, cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, and tetracyclines. However, it remained susceptible to carbapenems and aminoglycosides. Antibiogram-based therapy using Meropenem® and Enrofloxacin® proved effective, as evidenced by the post-treatment urine culture results. These findings emphasize the importance of applying sensitivity-guided antibiotic therapy in managing multi-resistant antibiotic cases to prevent the further spread of antimicrobial resistance in companion animals.
