SAMUEL JEFRY SITORUS. Peningkatan Kapabilitas Proses Cutting untuk
Menurunkan Defect Produk Bigsheet dengan Metode DMAIC dan FMEA di PT
XYZ. Dibimbing oleh DERRY DARDANELLA.
Persaingan industri manufaktur menuntut perusahaan untuk menjaga
kualitas produk dan kestabilan proses produksi guna meminimalkan terjadinya
defect.
SAMUEL JEFRY SITORUS. Enhancing Cutting Process Capability for Defect
Reduction in Bigsheet Products Using DMAIC and FMEA at PT XYZ. Supervised
by DERRY DARDANELLA.
Competition in the manufacturing industry requires companies to maintain
product quality and production process stability to minimize defects. This study
aims to identify variations in the bigsheet cutting process at PT XYZ using the Six
Sigma methodology through the DMAIC and FMEA approaches. Based on
production data from June to November 2025, wrinkle defects were the most
dominant type of defect, accounting for 75.8% of the total defects. The analysis
results showed that the process capability was at the 3 sigma level, indicating that
the process performance was still at the average level of industry standards in
Indonesia. The main problems in the cutting process were found in weak process
control at critical work points, particularly those related to the stability of paper pull,
the accuracy of paper flow position, and the effectiveness of process monitoring.
The three priority failure modes identified were unstable pulling with an RPN value
of 320, misaligned paper flow position with an RPN value of 224, and NG sheets
passing through the monitoring process with an RPN value of 210. The results of
this study provide a basis for decision making and for developing proposed process
control improvements through the use of check sheets, defect monitoring forms for
each shift, and A3 reports.
