      Abstract
      Rasau (Pandanus helicopus) merupakan bahan berlignoselulosa non-kayu yang melimpah namun masih belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal, meskipun memiliki potensi besar untuk aplikasi kemasan biodegradable. Seratnya dapat menjadi alternatif bahan baku berkelanjutan untuk mendukung diversifikasi sumber serat di tengah meningkatnya permasalahan lingkungan akibat penggunaan bahan berbasis kayu dan menurunnya ketersediaan serat daur ulang berkualitas tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis potensi serat rasau sebagai bahan baku molded pulp packaging, mengevaluasi pengaruh perbandingan batang dan daun menggunakan metode pulping Neutral Sulfite Semi-Chemical (NSSC) terhadap rendemen dan kualitas pulp, serta mengkaji sifat fisis dan mekanis produk yang dihasilkan. Metode penelitian meliputi pembuatan pulp rasau menggunakan metode NSSC, analisis komponen kimia, pengukuran dimensi serat, refining, pencetakan molded pulp, serta pengujian sifat fisis dan mekanis berupa berat jenis, hidrofobisitas, dan kuat tarik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan proses pulping merubah struktur kimia dan dimensi serat rasau. Molded Pulp yang terbuat dari serat rasau memiliki kekuatan mekanis yang baik akan tetapi masih bersifat hidrofilik.
       
      Rasau (Pandanus helicopus) is a widely available non-wood lignocellulosic biomass that remains largely underexploited despite its promising potential for biodegradable packaging applications. Its fibers provide a sustainable alternative raw material to support fiber-resource diversification amid increasing environmental issues related to wood-based materials and the decreasing availability of high-quality recycled fibers. This study evaluates the suitability of rasau fiber as a raw material for molded pulp packaging. It examines how Neutral Sulfite Semi-Chemical (NSSC) pulping methods affect pulp yield and fiber quality, and it characterizes the physical and mechanical properties of the resulting molded products. Methods include pulp production using NSSC, chemical composition analysis, fiber dimension measurement, refining with a valley beater, molded-pulp forming, and testing of density, water resistance, and tensile strength. The study reveals that the pulping process transforms the fiber dimensions and chemical makeup of Rasau. Although the molded pulp shows high mechanical performance, its affinity for water (hydrophilicity) persists.
