      Abstract

Predator–prey interaction with disease in prey is an important subject in mathematical ecology known as an ecoepidemic model. This study aims to reconstruct a predator–prey ecoepidemic model with herd behavior and disease in prey, analyze local stability and the existence of bifurcations, and conduct numerical simulations to illustrate the effect of critical parameters on system dynamics. The model is constructed under the assumption that susceptible prey gather in herds while infected prey drift away from the herd, with a functional response combining Holling type II and square root functions. Analysis was performed through system linearization, application of the Routh–Hurwitz criteria and Sotomayor's theorem, and numerical simulations using Wolfram Mathematica. The system possesses five equilibrium points with three bifurcations identified: a supercritical pitchfork bifurcation, transcritical bifurcations between two pairs of equilibrium points, and a subcritical Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibrium. Numerical simulations reveal that the force of infection, predation rate on infected prey, and predator handling time are critical in determining the stability and long-term behavior of the system.
