dc.description.abstractPerkembangan material pelindung yang ringan namun memiliki ketahanan tinggi terhadap impak mendorong pengembangan komposit sandwich berbasis serat sintetis dan serat alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis respon mekanik panel komposit sandwich Kevlar-Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) terhadap beban impak peluru kaliber 9 mm menggunakan Finite Element Method (FEM). Variasi penelitian dilakukan pada fraksi volume Kevlar-TKKS sebesar 50:50, 30:70, 70:30, 40:60, dan 60:40 serta jumlah lapisan panel sebanyak 8, 12, 16, dan 20 lapisan. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan jumlah lapisan menurunkan deformasi dan meningkatkan kekakuan panel. Secara umum, jumlah lapisan merupakan faktor yang lebih dominan dalam mempengaruhi respon mekanik panel dibandingkan variasi fraksi volume material.
dc.description.abstractThe development of lightweight protective materials with high impact resistance has encouraged the advancement of sandwich composite materials based on synthetic and natural fibers. This study aims to analyze the mechanical response of a Kevlar-Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) sandwich composite panels subjected to 9 mm caliber bullet impact loads using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The study considers variations in the Kevlar-OPEFB volume fractions of 50:50, 30:70, 70:30, 40:60, and 60:40, as well as panel configurations consisting of 8, 12, 16, and 20 layers. The simulation results indicate that increasing the number of layers reduces deformation and enchances the stiffness of the panel. In general, the number of layers is a more dominant factor influencing the mechanical response of the panel compared to variations in the material volume fraction.
