      Abstract

Felling is one of the main stages in forest harvesting to obtain timber. The use of heavy equipment such as harvesters is considered to improve productivity compared to semi-mechanized harvesting systems; however, machine performance is influenced by site conditions. This study aims to analyze the effect of slope class on harvester felling productivity at PT Musi Hutan Persada. Data collection was conducted through work-time observation using the null-stop method. The collected data included effective work time, ineffective work time, log volume, and felling productivity. The results showed that the highest productivity occurred on flat terrain, while the lowest was found on steep terrain. For the Komatsu harvester, productivity reached 17.47 m³/h on flat slopes, decreasing to 12.95 m³/h on gentle slopes and 11.16 m³/h on steep slopes. The Hitachi harvester showed a similar pattern, with 14.72 m³/h on flat slopes, 12.53 m³/h on gentle slopes, and 10.09 m³/h on steep slopes. ANOVA results indicated significance at <0.05, confirming a significant difference among slope classes. Thus, slope conditions are concluded to influence harvester felling productivity.
