      Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that requires proper dietary management to control blood sugar levels and avoid complications. This study aims to develop an optimal feeding menu model for patients with type 2 DM by considering calorie intake, nutritional balance, regularity of feeding schedules, and minimum costs. This model was developed using mixed integer nonlinear programming. The results show that the developed model produces a feeding menu that meets the calorie and nutritional needs of patients, both adults and elderly, with a balanced menu variety and more efficient daily costs. In addition, this model also successfully optimizes costs according to the objective function, while taking into account the main and additional constraints relevant to the needs of patients with type 2 DM. The implementation of this model is expected to improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the burden of medical costs through a more planned and efficient diet.
