      Potensi Kesesuaian Agroklimat Tanaman Jagung (Zea mays L.) Menggunakan Analisis Spasial dan Climex di Provinsi Jawa Timur

      Abstract
      Jagung (Zea mays L.) memegang peran strategis dalam sektor pertanian Indonesia, baik sebagai bahan pangan pokok maupun sebagai bahan baku penting untuk kebutuhan peternakan dan industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengevaluasi kesesuaian agroklimat untuk budidaya jagung di Provinsi Jawa Timur dengan menggunakan analisis spasial melalui ArcGIS dan pemodelan iklim menggunakan Climex 4.0. Faktor agroklimat utama yang digunakan meliputi suhu, curah hujan, kemiringan lereng, dan tekstur tanah untuk menghasilkan peta kesesuaian lahan yang dikategorikan ke dalam empat kelas yaitu S1 (sangat sesuai), S2 (cukup sesuai), S3 (sesuai marjinal), dan N (tidak sesuai). Tahapan penelitian meliputi pemetaan tumpang susun parameter kesesuaian dan analisis statistik untuk menilai hubungan antara nilai ecoclimatic index dan kelas kesesuaian lahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar wilayah di Jawa Timur masuk dalam kategori cukup sesuai (S2), sementara wilayah yang sangat sesuai (S1) terluas berada di Kabupaten Banyuwangi dan Blitar. Nilai ecoclimatic index menunjukkan korelasi positif yang kuat dengan pemetaan kesesuaian lahan (r = 0,80; p = 0,008). Total luas lahan yang tergolong sangat sesuai dan berpotensi untuk dikembangkan mencapai 222.281 hektare (4,8% dari luas provinsi). Pengembangan tanaman jagung di Jawa Timur perlu didukung dengan strategi pengelolaan lahan yang tepat dan berkelanjutan sesuai dengan potensi agroklimatnya
       
      Corn (Zea mays L.) plays a strategic role in Indonesia’s agricultural sector, serving both as a staple food and as a key raw material for livestock and industrial needs. This study aims to identify and evaluate the agroclimatic suitability for corn cultivation in East Java Province using spatial analysis through ArcGIS and climate modeling with Climex 4.0. The main agroclimatic factors considered include temperature, rainfall, slope, and soil texture to generate a land suitability map categorized into four classes: S1 (highly suitable), S2 (moderately suitable), S3 (marginally suitable), and N (not suitable). The research stages involved overlay mapping of suitability parameters and statistical analysis to assess the relationship between the Ecoclimatic Index (EI) and land suitability classes. The results show that most areas in East Java fall into the moderately suitable (S2) category, while the largest highly suitable (S1) areas are found in Banyuwangi and Blitar Regencies. The Ecoclimatic Index values showed a strong positive correlation with land suitability mapping (r = 0.80; p = 0.008). The total area classified as highly suitable and with development potential reaches 222,281 hectares (4.8% of the province’s total area). The development of corn cultivation in East Java should be supported by appropriate and sustainable land management strategies in accordance with its agroclimatic potential.
