      Penerapan Metode Delapan Langkah dan Seven Tools untuk Menurunkan Defect pada Produk Spin-on di PT Panata Jaya Mandiri

      Abstract
      Defect produk menjadi tantangan umum yang dapat menurunkan kualitas dan efisiensi produksi. Salah satu defect dominan pada lini packing produk spin-on di PT Panata Jaya Mandiri adalah filter body penyok. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi akar penyebab defect tersebut dan merancang usulan perbaikan dengan pendekatan metode Delapan Langkah dan alat bantu Seven Tools, seperti diagram pareto, fishbone, dan why-why analysis. Analisis dilakukan berdasarkan enam aspek penyebab. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa defect disebabkan oleh kurangnya ketelitian operator, lemahnya pengawasan, beban kerja yang tidak seimbang, desain kemasan yang tidak memadai, pencahayaan area kerja yang buruk, serta ketiadaan alat bantu pemindah dari conveyor. Sebagai solusi, dirancang lembar checklist monitoring aktivitas packing untuk mendukung pengawasan secara praktis dan terukur. Strategi pelaksanaan, indikator evaluasi, dan rencana standarisasi turut disusun guna mendukung efektivitas implementasi. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi kontribusi dalam menekan defect dan meningkatkan kualitas proses secara berkelanjutan.
       
      Product defects are a common challenge that can reduce production quality and efficiency. One of the dominant defects in the spin-on product packing line at PT Panata Jaya Mandiri is the dented filter body. This study aims to identify the root causes of the defect and design improvement proposals using the Eight-Step method approach and Seven Tools, such as pareto diagrams, fishbone, and why-why analysis. The analysis was conducted based on six causal aspects. The results showed that the defects were caused by the lack of operator accuracy, weak supervision, unbalanced workload, inadequate packaging design, poor lighting of the work area, and the absence of moving aids from the conveyor. As a solution, a packing activity monitoring checklist sheet was designed to support practical and measurable supervision. Implementation strategies, evaluation indicators, and standardization plans were also developed to support effective implementation. This research is expected to be a contribution in reducing defects and improving process quality in a sustainable manner.
