      Abstract

Cases of chronic kidney disease in cats and dogs can cause a high prevalence of death. This study aims to determine and explain the prevalence of chronic kidney disease and determine the level of kidney conditions in cats and dogs. Case observations used 66 dogs and 55 cats who underwent blood biochemical examinations to see creatine parameters. Data from cat and dog patients that had been obtained over a 10 month period was calculated for prevalence using several categories, namely CKD prevalence based on month, symptoms, age, gender, race/ancestry, and level grouping. The examination includes a review of the medical history, physical examination, blood analysis and supporting examinations such as x-rays and ultrasound to evaluate the condition of the kidneys in more detail. The creatinine value in the blood which correlates with the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) can be used as a potential indicator to assess the level of kidney damage, thus helping in determining the appropriate diagnosis and planning therapy. The research results show that age, gender and breed factors play a role in the incidence of CKD in cats and dogs.
