Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is one of the major threats in the dairy farming sector due to its widespread impact on milk production and farmer prosperity. This study aims to analyze the impact of FMD on milk productivity, the population of productive dairy cows, and the prosperity of dairy farmers at KPBS Pangalengan. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach supported by qualitative data, using secondary cooperative records and questionnaires from 50 affected farmers. The results show that FMD caused a significant decline in both the number of productive cows and milk yield, with the highest reduction in milk production reaching 30.23%. FMD reduced farmers income, with the greatest decrease recorded at 25.8%, and led to changes in saving and borrowing behavior, as well as a shift in the cooperative membership structure. The findings indicate that the impact of FMD extends beyond livestock health, affecting the socioeconomic sustainability of smallholder dairy farming. Effective response strategies should include economic recovery efforts for farmers, in addition to disease control.
