      Efektivitas Seed Coating Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula terhadao Perkecambahan dan Pertumbuhan Bibit Sengon pada Cekaman Kekeringan

      Abstract
      Pemanasan global menyebabkan terjadinya bencana kekeringan yang menjadi faktor pembatas pertumbuhan pohon. Efek cekaman kekeringan mampu ditekan dengan memanfaatkan Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula (FMA) yang dapat diaplikasikan melalui seed coating. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui respons perkecambahan benih dan pertumbuhan bibit sengon pada cekaman kekeringan, efektivitas inokulasi FMA pada bibit sengon, serta efektivitas seed coating terhadap perkecambahan benih dan pertumbuhan bibit sengon pada cekaman kekeringan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan rancangan acak lengkap dua faktor yaitu cekaman kekeringan dan FMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cekaman kekeringan menurunkan daya kecambah, pertumbuhan tinggi, berat kering, dan kadar air bibit sengon. Aplikasi seed coating FMA tidak memiliki pengaruh nyata dalam perkecambahan benih karena kolonisasi FMA dapat terjadi pada akar yang telah berkembang. Inokulasi FMA melalui seed coating menunjukkan tingkat pertumbuhan dan kolonisasi akar yang lebih tinggi daripada inokulasi pada media tanam yang mengindikasikan bahwa seed coating memiliki efektivitas yang lebih tinggi dalam mekanisme toleransi bibit sengon terhadap cekaman kekeringan.
       
      Global warming increases the evaporation rate, causing drought, which is a limiting factor for tree growth. Drought stress effect can be suppressed by utilizing Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) which can be applied through seed coating. The research aims to determine the response of sengon germination and growth to drought stress, the effectiveness of AMF inoculation on sengon seedling, and the effectiveness of seed coating on sengon germination and seedling growth under drought stress. Research was conducted in a completely randomized design with two factors: drought stress and AMF inoculation. Results showed that drought stress reduced germination, growth, dry weight, and moisture content of sengon seedlings. Seed coating had no significant effect on germination because AMF colonization occur on developed roots. AMF inoculation through seed coating showed a higher growth rate and root colonization than growing media inoculation, indicating that seed coating has a higher effectiveness in the tolerance mechanism of sengon seedlings to drought stress.
