| dc.description.abstract | Ditengah derasnya transformasi digital, kelompok penyandang tunanetra masih menghadapi tantangan dalam menggunakan kemajuan teknologi secara setara. Berdasarkan data, hanya sebagian kecil penyandang tunanetra yang memiliki akses dan keterampilan untuk menggunakan perangkat digital secara mandiri. Fitur Talkback hadir sebagai solusi teknologi asistif untuk membantu tunanetra dalam mengakses informasi digital dan meningkatkan kualitas komunikasi interpersonal mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengidentifikasi bagaimana penyandang tunanetra menggunakan fitur Talkback dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, (2) menganalisis proses adaptasi mereka terhadap teknologi ini berdasarkan kerangka Technology Acceptance Model, dan (3) mengevaluasi dampaknya terhadap kualitas komunikasi penyandang tunanetra. Technology Accaptance Model digunakan sebagai teori pendukung karena mampu menjelaskan perilaku penerimaan teknologi oleh individu dengan mempertimbangkan persepsi kegunaan dan kemudahan.
Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan kuesioner. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari enam informan penyandang tunanetra dengan latar belakang dan tingkat kebutaan berbeda, serta didukung oleh data kuesioner dari 39 responden komunitas tunanetra aktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fitur Talkback sangat membantu penyandang tunanetra dalam berbagai aktivitas digital, mulai dari komunikasi melalui WhatsApp, akses media sosial, hingga hiburan dan pekerjaan. Proses adaptasi awal memang memerlukan waktu, namun persepsi akan kemanfaatan dan kemudahan penggunaan mendorong penerimaan teknologi. Selain itu, penggunaan Talkback berkontribusi signifikan dalam meningkatkan kemandirian dan kualitas komunikasi interpersonal, terutama dalam hal kejelasan pesan dan keterbukaan diri. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The Advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed communication patterns in society, including for individuals with visual impairments. However, not all technologies are accessible or inclusive for individuals with disabilities. Data show that only a small proportion of visually impaired individuals have both acces to and the skills required to independently use digital devices. The Talkback feature has emerged as an assistive technology that enables visually impaired users to access digital information and improve the quality of their interpersonal communication.
This study aims to: (1) examine how visually impaired individuals use the TalkBack feature in daily life; (2) analyze their adaptation to this technology using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM); and (3) evaluate its impact on communication quality. The Technology Acceptance Model is used as a supporting theory because it effectively explains individuals' technology acceptance behavior by taking into account perceived usefulness and ease of use.
This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach using in-depth interviews, observations, and questionnaires for data collection. The study involved six visually impaired informants with divers backgrounds and varying Levels of visual impairment, supported by questionnaire data responses from 39 individuals within an active visually impaired community.
The findings reveal that the TalkBack feature is highly beneficial for visually impaired individuals in various digital activities, including communication via WhatsApp, accessing social media, entertainment, and work-related tasks. While the initial adaptation process requires time, perceptions of usefulness and ease of use support the acceptance of the technology. Furthermore, the use of TalkBack significantly contributes to improving independence and the quality of interpersonal communication, particularly in terms of message clarity and self-disclosure | |
