      Abstract

The cultivation of nilem fish Osteochilus vittatus is highly economically profitable and contributes to environmental sustainability. However, challenges in nilem cultivation include slow growth rates and high mortality during the larval stage. One approach to address these issues is the administration of vitamin C through enrichment of daphnia, which serves as feed for the larvae, to enhance their growth and survival. This study aimed to determine the optimal dose of vitamin C for enriching daphnia to improve the growth and survival of nilem larvae. The research employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, using doses of vitamin C consisting of VC0 (0 mg L?¹), VC200 (200 mg L?¹), VC250 (250 mg L?¹), and VC300 (300 mg L?¹). Larvae aged 15 days were reared in aquariums with a water volume of 7 L, and a stocking density of 5 larvae L-1. Daphnia enrichment was conducted by soaking them in vitamin C solution for 3 hours. The results showed that treatments VC200, VC250, and VC300 had a significant effect (p<0.05) on growth parameters. For survival rate, the best results (100%) were observed in treatments VC200 and VC250. Enrichment of daphnia with vitamin C had a positive effect on the growth and survival of nilem fish larvae, with optimal doses being 200 and 250 mg L?¹.
