      Karakteristik Kimia Media Tanam dengan Beberapa Komponen Berbeda dan Pengaruhnya terhadap Produktivitas Bawang Merah

      Abstract
      Bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) merupakan tanaman yang berpotensi dibudidayakan di dalam pot, terutama di lingkungan perkotaan dengan keterbatasan lahan. Hasil bawang merah yang berkualitas tinggi sangat dipengaruhi oleh media tanam yang baik. Media tanam yang baik dapat menyediakan unsur hara, mempertahankan kelembaban, serta memastikan aerasi dan drainase yang baik bagi perkembangan akar tanaman. Pemilihan komposisi media tanam yang tepat dapat mendukung pertumbuhan dan hasil panen bawang merah dalam pot. Bahan tanah Ultisol, arang sekam, dan kompos dapat menjadi pilihan sebagai komposisi media tanam. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 9 kombinasi media diterapkan untuk mengevaluasi sifat kimia tanah (pH, C-organik, N-total, P-tersedia, Kejenuhan Basa, Kapasitas Tukar Kation) serta parameter pertumbuhan tanaman (tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, dan bobot umbi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media T2A4K4, yang terdiri dari bahan tanah Ultisol 20%, arang sekam 40%, dan kompos 40%, menghasilkan produksi terbaik dengan bobot umbi bawang merah tertinggi. Kombinasi ini menghasilkan keseimbangan optimal antara aerasi, drainase, kelembaban, dan unsur hara. Sebaliknya, komposisi media tanam dengan bahan 100% arang sekam dan 100% kompos tidak mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman bawang merah akibat ketidakseimbangan struktur fisik dan kelembaban media.
       
      Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are plants with high potential for cultivation in pots, particularly in urban environments with limited space. The production of high-quality shallots is greatly influenced by the use of suitable growing media. Good growing media can provide essential nutrients, retain moisture, and ensure proper aeration and drainage for optimal root development. Selecting the right composition of growing media can support the growth and harvest of shallots in pots. A combination of Ultisol soil, rice husk charcoal, and compost can serve as a viable option for growing media composition. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 9 media combinations applied to evaluate soil chemical properties (pH, organic carbon, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, base saturation, cation exchange capacity) as well as plant growth parameters (plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, and bulb weight). The results showed that the T2A4K4 media, consisting of 20% Ultisol soil, 40% rice husk charcoal, and 40% compost, produced the best results with the highest shallot bulb weight. This combination provided an optimal balance of aeration, drainage, moisture, and nutrients. In contrast, media compositions consisting of 100% rice husk charcoal and 100% compost did not support shallot growth due to an imbalance in the physical structure and moisture content of the media.
