      Abstract
The sustainability of palm oil-based bioenergy development in Indonesia, until now has not provided maximum benefits for increasing the income of the state and society of Indonesia. The huge potential of oil palm has not been able to contribute to the supply of renewable energy sources in the country. This is indicated by the still low utilization of existing potential, both for economic interests and social interests. So many negative accusations are still so great for Indonesia's efforts to develop and utilize the potential of oil palm as an alternative source of bioenergy. Sustainability issues where the practice of land acquisition and plantation management to the development of palm oil bioenergy are still considered as a source of environmental damage such as deforestation and loss of biodiversity around the development area. Therefore, it is important for the Indonesian people to show the international community that the development of palm oil bioenergy in Indonesia has met the principles of sustainability. Economically, the development of palm oil bioenergy is strived to be able to contribute positively to efforts to save state expenditure due to the increasing import of fossil fuels and at the same time become a source of increasing foreign exchange through export activities of biofuels. However, environmentally and socially the efforts to develop palm oil bioenergy in Indonesia are seen as not showing encouraging impacts. Sustainability issues expressed in various literacy or meetings internationally, provide a lot of negative sentiment towards national oil palm plantations. The issue of environmental impacts such as uncontrolled land acquisition practices through land combustion which has a further impact on increasing greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing soil and air quality, has caused oil palm commodity products in Indonesia not yet to be accepted by the international market. Likewise, the social impact, where land conflicts between the community and the company, the gap in income and damage to infrastructure due to the mobilization of bioenergy raw materials, also triggered the emergence of negative sentiments towards palm oil bioenergy products in Indonesia.
