lainnya. Kebutuhan minyak dunia diperkirakan akan mencapai 334 juta ton minyak
nabati, termasuk minyak sawit 171,16 juta ton (51,14%) dibandingkan komiditas
lainnya.
produksi buah kelapa sawit.
nilai 0,0367-0,0391 mg g-1 dibandingkan bulan Juni.
dc.description.abstract | Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a potential source of vegetable oil with
numerous advantages compared to other vegetable oils. The global demand for oil
is estimated to reach 334 million tons of vegetable oil, including 171.16 million
tons of palm oil (51.14%) compared to other commodities. Indonesia is the largest
contributor to global vegetable oil production, accounting for 30%, and palm oil
exports make up 60% of the global market. Extreme climate changes with low
rainfall are one of the stress factors for oil palm plants. Stress in oil palm plants can
lead to a decrease in fruit production. Remote sensing with high spectral resolution
and sensitivity is used to precisely, quickly, and accurately identify the condition of
oil palm plants, thereby reducing production losses. This study aims to identify
plant conditions from satellite image analysis compared to physical field soil
sample tests and leaf proline content.
The research was conducted from June to October 2023 at the IPB University
Palm Oil Research and Education Plantation in Jonggol, Bogor, West Java. The use
of the Global Positioning System (GPS) allows for the rapid detection of land areas,
with satellite image data obtained from dataspace.copernicus.eu. Soil samples were
observed under field conditions (pF 2.54), permanent wilting point (pF 4.2), and
soil water content (%). Leaf proline content was observed to provide a comparative
value for the Palm Oil Stress Index (POSI).
The results showed that in 2023, rainfall and the number of rainy days at the
Jonggol Palm Oil Plantation continuously decreased from April to October 2023.
The last 5 years of rainfall data indicated that 2023 had lower values compared to
previous years. During the research period from June to October, there was a
significant decrease in rainfall and an increase in leaf proline content. Soil moisture
observations in June showed values above pF 4.2, ranging from 34,76 to 47.20%,
with proline values from 0.0147 to 0.0159 mg g-1. Soil water availability was at
field capacity due to relatively high rainfall and rainy days in June. POSI
formulation analysis showed all planting block areas were green, thus classified as
non-stressed water plant conditions.
POSI observations in October showed a change to yellow-red colors, which
could be categorized as potential stress water. This was due to continuously
decreasing soil moisture levels between 23-24% because of low rainfall during the
June-October period. The decrease in soil moisture was supported by an average
proline increase of 152% in October, with values ranging from 0.0367 to 0.0391
mg g-1 compared to June. The color changes in the Palm Oil Stress Index (POSI)
formulation associated with increased proline values from June to October indicate
that the formulation can identify water stress conditions in oil palm plants
