      Abstract

Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Tangerang company carries out waste processing to produce effluent water which meets quality standards but is not yet optimal in terms of ammonia levels, and in the future the use of effluent water will be used as inlet water but have not reach the criteria of TDS and conductivity value. The processing that can be carried out is demineralization using resin. The resin used is ion exchange resin such as MC-08 and MA-12. This resin can exchange ions thereby reducing ammonia levels, TDS and conductivity in effluent water. This reduction can be optimized by optimizing the resin using resin treatment parameters, contact time, resin composition, effluent water pH, and effluent water temperature so that significant parameters for processing can be identified. The optimum parameters are treatment with activation, contact time 44 minutes, composition with a ratio of 4:4, pH 6.5; and pure effluent water temperature. This demineralization will lower the pH of the effluent water so that parameters without pH adjustment are suitable for use by companies to meet their requirements. A mixture of effluent water and raw water with a ratio of 2:8 can be used as production inlet water.
