      Abstract

Tilapia has a crucial position as one of the main products in the Indonesian freshwater fisheries industry. One way to maintain the superiority of tilapia is to choose quality broodstock by paying attention to the transportation handling of prospective tilapia broodstock. This study aims to reduce the mortality and stress of prospective tilapia broodstock when transported using clove oil as an anesthetic. The method applied was an experiment using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three repetitions. The treatments given was clove oil immersion with a dose of 0.00 mL/L (P0), a dose of 0.01 mL/L (P1), a dose of 0.015 mL/L (P2), and a dose of 0.02 mL/L (P3). Samples tested was 48 individuals divided into 12 plastic bags (4 individuals per bag). Treatment with at a dose of 0,015 mL/L (P2) showed the highest survival, although statictical analysis showed no significant difference between all treatments tested.
