      Abstract

The relatively high prevalence of worm infections is associated with animal, owner and environmental health. Worm infections can occur due to supporting factors. The study aimed to obtain information on the relationship between the prevalence of worm infection in pet animals and the supporting factors of worm infection. This study used 36 cat feces samples and 5 dog feces. Questionnaires were given to respondents who were dog and cat owners. The prevalence of Kamo Pet Clinic patients was 24.39% with 9.7% Toxocara spp infection and 14.6% Dipylidium spp infection. The prevalence is low with frequent infection category. Risk factors for worm infection include animals less than one year old are more at risk of worm infection, the number of animals kept is more than one, breeds in pure breed dogs are more at risk while in mixed breed cats are more at risk, regular repetition of deworming can reduce the risk of worm infection, the type of feed with a mixture of meat/fish is more at risk, maintenance management with semi-indoor and often out can increase the risk of worm infection. In this study, gender in this study did not affect the risk factors for worm infection.
