The conversion factor (CF) commonly used to calculate soil organic matter (SOM) from soil organic-C (SOC) is 1.724. This value, which is applied to all types of organic matter in soils, is basically derived from the average content of C in soil humic acids (58%). Since different types of SOM contain different amount of humic acids, therefore, this research was conducted to study the changes of CF from SOC to SOM on two soil types after incorporation of an organic residue.id
