dc.description.abstract | This research was aimed to defined the morphology and morphometry of Yorkshire boar’s sperm and using Williams staining. The semen sample were collected from four healty boars (3 years old) belong to UPTD Baturiti, the province of Bali. Semen were stained using Williams staining technique, morphology observation was evaluated by light microscop on 500 cells for each sample, whereas morphometric measuring was evaluated by imageJ software on 200 cels for each sample. The stained and observation conducted in Rehabilitation Reproduction Unit (URR), Reproduction and Obstetrics division of Clinic, Reproduction and Patology Departement, FKH IPB. From macroscopic evaluation the result showed that the semen volume was 179.83 ± 77.23 mL, the pH was 7 and the sperm concentration was 178.95±65.94 106/mL The result of morphology observation showed that the normal sperm was 93.37±3.30% and abnormal sperm was 6.63±3.30%. The abnormality of the sperm consist of narrow (0.52%), tapered (0.70%), lose abnormal head (0.68%), variable size (1.83%), pearshaped (1.18%), abnormal in countour (1.05 %) and undeveloped (0.67%) respectively. . The sperm mophometry showed that the length and the width of the head was 7.97± 0.56 μm x 3.86± 0.15 μm, the length of the tail was 37.31±0.94 μm with the total length of the sperm was 45.28±1.31μm respectively. | en |
