Abstract
Fertilization must be suited with nutrient availability level in soil. It can be estimated by plant analysis. Nutrient content of plant is determined by the nutrient requirement of the crop and the nutrient supplying power of the soil. The value of plant analysis in quantifying nutrient requirements depends on careful sampling and analysis and using test that are calibrated with plant response (growth and yiaeld).The aim of calibration is to describe results of plant analysis in simple terms and to make simple the process of making fertilizer recommendation according to nutrient content cathegory in plants. The growth variables used for calibration were length of frond,leaf area and average of frond number which is adjusted to plant age. Calibration result of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn in young oil palm plant indicated that nutrient sufficient range (NSR) of K, P,Mg, Ca, and Zn were wider than criteria of Von Uexkull (1992) and criteria of Jhon, Jr. et al. (1991). The nutrient sufficient range of N was lower but wider than criteria of Von Uexkull (1992) and criteria of Jhon, Jr. et al. (1991). In addition, the nutrient sufficient range of Ca was more narrow compared with criteria of Von Uexkull (1992) but wider than of criteria Jhon, Jr. et al. (1991).
