| dc.description.abstract | Open Archive Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a method to perform
metadata harvesting which does not depend upon particular platform. It is mainly caused by XML
exertion in metadata exchange by using text based file with the result to be understood and
accesible to all platform. OAI-PMH has Dublin Core metadata as standard element to describe
information in regard to certain resource in the form of text, audio, video and audio video. In the
implementation of OAI-PMH and Dublin Core, users can perform upload of digital archive in Data
Provider so it can be given a metadata as Dublin Core standard. Thus, digital archive which had
been approved to be publicized would have a global standarized metadata description, i.e. OAIPMH.
The publication result of this digital archive collection then applicable to third party
application, that is Service Provider, to perform harvesting process through internet network by
using http protocol. Searching mechanism in Service Provider is not acting to search metadata
directly which presents in Data Provider, yet it will search by using database caching method with
Least Recently Used algorithm to search metadata within cache database in form of XML database
which presents in Service Provider. The exertion of this database caching offer faster searching
advantage. The whole advantage of this system is every institution can publish every digital
archive by using standard of OAI-PMH and Dublin Core so other institution can utilize it by
searching digital archive which had been publicized. | id |
