Kegiatan penebangan hutan menghasilkan kayu sisa yang berlimpah,
sementara ketersediaan kayu sebagai bahan baku semakin menurun dan kebutuhan
kayu untuk industri masih tinggi. Untuk dapat memenuhi ketersediaan kayu,
dibutuhkan sumber-sumber selain hutan tanaman maupun hutan alam. Hutan rakyat
merupakan salah satu alternatif sumber produksi kayu di masa yang akan datang.
Tingkat pemanfaatan kayu dari hutan rakyat belum maksimal. Penelitian ini
bertujuan mengidentifikasi bentuk dan mengkuantifikasi kayu sisa, serta
menghitung tingkat pemanfaatan penebangan hutan rakyat sengon. Metode
kuantifikasi kayu sisa yang digunakan adalah metode pohon penuh. Kayu sisa pada
hutan rakyat dapat dibagi menjadi tunggak, batang komersial, batang atas, potongan
pendek, cabang dan ranting. Penelitian ini dilakukan di tiga tebangan hutan rakyat
(KAM 1, KAM 2 dan KBM), tingkat pemanfaatan kayu pada hutan rakyat di KAM1
sebesar 94,96%; KAM2 95,10%; dan KBM 90,95%. Persen kayu sisa yang
didapatkan pada ketiga tebangan sebesar 5,04% di KAM1; 4,90% di KAM2; dan
9,05% di KBM. Sumber dari kayu sisa terbesar didapatkan dari tunggak, cabang
dan ranting yaitu sebesar 2%. Forest logging activities produce abundant residual wood, while the
availability of wood as raw material is decreasing, and the need for wood for
industry is still high. To fulfil the availability of wood, sources other than plantation
forests and natural forests are needed. Private forests are an alternative source of
wood production in the future. The level of wood utilization from private forests
has not been maximized. This study aims to identify the form and quantify the
residual wood and calculate the utilization rate of sengon private forest logging.
The residual wood quantification method used is the whole tree method. Residual
wood in private forests can be divided into stumps, commercial stems, scions, short
pieces, branches and twigs. This study was conducted in three private forest felling
(KAM 1, KAM 2 and KBM), the wood utilization rate in private forests in KAM1
was 94,96%; KAM2 95,10%; and KBM 90,95%. The percent of residual wood
obtained in the three feelings was 5,04% in KAM1; 4,90% in KAM2; and 9,05% in
KBM. The largest residual wood source was stumps, branches and twigs which
amounted to 2%.
