Persepsi Pengunjung Terhadap Satwa Prioritas Herpetofauna di Batu Secret Zoo, Malang, Jawa Timur

Abstract

Perdagangan hewan bisa menjadi masalah serius bagi kelangsungan hidup terutama hewan yang telah masuk dalam daftar spesies yang terancam punah. Salah satunya adalah herpetofauna, dimana dalam takson herpetofauna terdapat empat spesies yang masuk dalam 25 satwa prioritas berdasarkan IUCN Red List, Appendix CITES, serta status perlindungan menurut Pemerintah Indonesia. Perdagangan herpetofauna ini telah meningkat selama dekade terakhir. Herpetofauna dari segi estetika memang tidak menarik, namun herpetofauna memiliki nilai endemik dan nilai budaya yang tinggi. Fakta menunjukkan bahwa perdagangan ilegal terus berlanjut dan cenderung meningkat, sehingga salah satu upaya konservasi yang dapat dilakukan adalah pendidikan melalui demonstrasi satwa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik pengunjung Batu Secret Zoo dan mengidentifikasi persepsi pengunjung terhadap satwa prioritas dengan menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan studi literatur. Data dianalisis menggunakan skala likert dan chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik pengunjung terbanyak berasal dari kelompok usia 18-24 dengan persentase 30%, dengan seluruh kunjungan berasal dari pengunjung domestik. Persepsi pengunjung terhadap pelestarian empat satwa prioritas yaitu buaya, komodo, penyu, dan kura-kura moncong babi adalah positif, dengan hasil analisis Likert menunjukkan nilai rata-rata tinggi dan sangat tinggi dengan persentase terbesar yaitu 95%. Karakteristik responden yang memiliki hubungan atau pengaruh satu sama lain dengan persepsi pengunjung adalah jumlah tanggungan keluarga dan pekerjaan.

Animal trade can be a serious problem for survival especially animals that have been included in the endangered species list. One of them is the herpetofauna, where there are four species in the herpetofauna taxon that are included in the 25 priority animals based on the IUCN Red List and CITES Appendix, as well as protection status according to the Government of Indonesia. However, this herpetofauna trade has increased over the last decade. Herpetofauna from an aesthetic standpoint is indeed unattractive, but herpetofauna has endemic value and high cultural value. The facts show that illegal trade continues and tends to increase, so one of the conservation efforts that can be carried out is education through animal demonstrations. This study aims to identify the characteristics of visitors at Batu Secret Zoo and identify visitors' perceptions of priority animals by using observation, interviews and literature studies. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale and chi-square. The results showed that the characteristics of most of the visitors came from the age group of 18-24 with a percentage of 30%, with all of visits are dominated by domestic visitors which shows 100%. Visitors' perceptions of the preservation of the four priority animals crocodile, komodo, turtle, and pig-nosed turtlr is positive, with the results of the Likert analysis showing high and very high average values with the largest percentage of 95%. Characteristics of respondents who have a relationship or influence each other with the perception of visitors is the number of family dependents and occupation.
