      Abstract
      Padi (Oryza sativa L.) merupakan komoditas pangan utama yang mempunyai peranan strategis untuk pembangunan pertanian dan perekonomian negara. Penurunan produktivitas padi dapat disebabkan oleh OPT, salah satunya yaitu hama penggerek batang padi kuning (PBPK). Pengendalian PBPK yang diterapkan oleh petani masih sangat bergantung dengan penggunaan insektisida sintetik. Metode pengendalian PBPK terbaru yang lebih ramah lingkungan, yaitu dengan menggunakan feromon seks yang berfungsi untuk mengganggu perkawinan hama penggerek batang padi kuning. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan informasi mengenai respon penerima aplikasi Yellow Stem Borer Mating Disruption Pheromone (YSB-MDP) yang dilihat dari isu sosial dan ekonomi sesuai dengan tingkat pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan petani di Kecamatan Kutawaluya, Kabupaten Karawang, Provinsi Jawa Barat. Survei dilakukan dengan mengisi borang pertanyaan dan wawancara secara terstruktur terhadap 60 petani responden yang terlibat dengan pemakaian YSB-MDP. Data hasil survei diolah dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak Microsoft Excel 2010 yang selanjutnya dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kemudian disajikan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan petani memiliki dampak yang berbeda dalam mengelola hama dan penyakit sesuai dengan karakteristik, sosial, dan budaya petani. Hasil analisis deskriptif penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani telah memahami mengenai metode PHT, akan tetapi mereka masih belum sepenuhnya menerapkan praktek PHT di lahan mereka. Pengendalian PBPK dengan menggunakan YSB-MDP memperoleh antusiasme tinggi di kalangan petani.
       
      Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the main food commodity with a strategic role in agricultural development and the country's economy. Decreased rice productivity can be caused by pests, one of which is the yellow stem borer (YSB). YSB control applied by farmers is still very dependent on synthetic insecticides. The latest YSB control method that is more environmentally friendly is by using sex pheromones that disrupt the mating of the yellow rice stem borer. This study aims to provide information about the response of recipients of the Yellow Stem Borer Mating Disruption Pheromone (YSB-MDP) application in terms of social and economic issues following with the level of knowledge, attitudes and actions of farmers in Kutawaluya, Karawang District, West Java. The survey was conducted by filling out question forms and structured interviews with respondent farmers using YSB-MDP. The survei data were processed using Microsoft Excel 2010 software which was then analyzed qualitatively and presented descriptively. The results showed that the knowledge, attitudes and actions of farmers have different impacts on managing pests and diseases according to the characteristics, social, and culture of farmers. The results of the descriptive analysis of the study showed that farmers had understood the IPM method, but they still needed to fully implement IPM practices on their land. YSB control using YSB-MDP reached high enthusiasm among farmers.
