In recent years there has been, virtually, an explosion of tourism concerned with wildlife and scenic beauty based on natural resources. The net result has been a widespread degradation or reduction in the assets of nature.
The crisis which appears to be mounting in the small islands and coastal areas today requires initiatives design to slow and eventually reverse this degradation. Efforts to solve these problems have been slow to materialize, but are nevertheless very necessary f long-term prosperity of marine reource-dependent business and local communities is to be achieved. The eco-beach tourism is one such group of marine-dependent Disinesses. Penelitian ini mencakup dua aspek, yaitu aspek ekosistem fisik kepulauan dan aspek ekosistem sosial. Dalam penelitian ini pulau sebagai satuan analisa dan sebagai faktor endogen yang apenting dalam konservasi dan eko-wisata. Kajian aspek fisik berpusat pada kondisi air dan perairan Kepulauan Seribu. Kajian aspek sosial bertumpu pada perilaku masyarakat lokal dan wisatawan. Perilaku masyarakat lokal dan wisatawan berhubungan dengan persepsi dan partisipasi subyek.
