Embrio benih pisang berbentuk huruf T terbalik.
Low germination, high variability of germination, and the absence of germination test methods are obstacles in banana seed germination. The purpose of this research is to learn about the morphological and anatomical characterization of banana seeds from several accessions, and test the development of germination test methods to obtain the proper test method and determine the quality of banana seeds to determine the viability and vigor of seeds that have been stored. The research consisted of four experiments, that is (1) morphological and anatomical characterization of seeds of several wild banana accessions, (2) determination of the first count and final count in the banana seed germination test method, (3) development of a germination test method for five banana seed accessions, and (4) quality of banana seeds of Klutuk NTT and Sumatrana accessions after storage. The results of the experiment showed that the morphological characterization of banana seeds SPN 001, LNT 001, DMS 001, Microcarpa, SGR 001, Musa balbisiana accession Klutuk NTT, Musa acuminata accession Sumatrana had a seed diameter ranging from 4-6.6 mm. Anatomical characterization of banana seed accessions SPN 001, LNT 001, DMS 001, Microcarpa, SGR 001, Musa balbisiana accession Klutuk NTT and Musa acuminata accession Sumatrana have parts namely seed coat, endosperm, embryo, microfil, inner and outer integument, chalazal, and operculum. The banana seed embryo is inverted T-shaped. The test method for germination of wild banana seeds was conducted with the first observation on the day 16 and the second observation on day 26 after planting. The test method with full light (100%) and 70-90% media humidity on accessions SPN 001 and LNT 001 resulted in germination of 70.80-88.80%. The test method with low light (50%) and 90% media humidity on accessions Microcarpa, DMS 001, and SGR 001 resulted in the germination of 4.00-42.40%. Seed quality in the variables of moisture content, germination, vigor index, and uniformity of growth in Klutuk NTT accession increased after storage and in Sumatrana accession decreased seed viability after 41 months of storage. The germination of Klutuk NTT accession seeds that have been stored for 41 months are 79.2% and the germination of Sumatrana accession seeds that have been stored for 5 months have a germination of 97.6%, while seeds that have been stored for 41 months are 18%.id
