      Pengelolaan Kesejahteraan Kura-Kura Kaki Gajah (Manouria emys) dan Pemanfaatannya sebagai Satwa Peraga di TMII

      Abstract
      Pembebasan lahan di kawasan hutan Kalimantan yang berlebihan mengakibatkan dampak buruk bagi keberlangsungan hidup kura-kura kaki gajah. Salah satu upaya untuk pelestarian kura-kura kaki gajah dilakukan melalui upaya pelestariannnya di luar habitat alaminya (eksitu) seperti yang dilakukan di Taman Reptil Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengelolaan dan menilai kesejahteraan kura-kura kaki gajah di Taman Reptil TMII, menganalisis persepsi pengunjung terkait pemanfaatan kura kura kaki gajah sebagai satwa peraga, dan merumuskan rekomendasi pengembangan pemanfaatan kura-kura kaki gajah sebagai satwa peraga. Metode yang digunakan yaitu observasi lapang, wawancara, dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pengelolaan kura-kura kaki gajah di Taman Reptil TMII termasuk baik dan nilai kesejahteraan satwa termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik dengan nilai rata-rata 80.68. Persepsi pengunjung mengenai pemanfaatan kura-kura kaki gajah sebagai satwa peraga adalah setuju. Rekomendasi pengembangan pemanfaatan kura-kura kaki gajah sebagai satwa peraga yaitu atraksi antara pengunjung dengan satwa melalui kegiatan foto bersama dan memberi pakan dengan didampingi keeper.
       
      Excessive land acquisition in Kalimantan Forest areas harms the survival of the asian giant tortoise. One of the efforts to preserve the asian giant tortoise is through conservation efforts outside its natural habitat (ex-situ) finished at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Reptile Park. This study aims to identify the management and assess the welfare of the asian giant tortoise in the TMII Reptile Park, analyze visitor perceptions regarding the use of the asian giant tortoise as a display animal, and formulate recommendations for the development of the use of the asian giant tortoise as a display animal. The methods used are field observations, interviews, and literature studies. The results showed that the management of the asian giant tortoise in the TMII Reptile Park was good cum the value of animal welfare was in the marvelous category with an average value of 80.68. The visitor's perception regarding the use of the asian giant tortoise as a display animal agrees. Recommendations for the development utilization of asian giant tortoise as display animals are attractions between visitors and animals through group photos and feeding activities accompanied by a keeper.
