dc.description.abstract | The utilization of oil palm fronds to be converted as particleboard was
considered effective in preserving the environment. The addition of molasses to adhesive mixtures with phenol-formaldehyde (PF) was carried out as an effort to reduce the use of PF adhesive. This research aims to produce particleboard with high-quality and eco-friendly from oil palm fronds and to analyze the effect of adding molasses to PF adhesive on the quality of particleboard. This research
method uses 5 levels of PF: molasses adhesive composition, namely 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0:100 (wt%). The target density of particleboard is designed to be 0,8 g/cm³ with dimensions of (30×30×0.6) cm³. The adhesive content used is 16% with a compression temperature of 180 °C for 10 minutes. Overall, the results of testing showed that the density, moisture content, thickness swelling, and MOE of the particleboard in this study had met the standard of SNI 03-2105-2006, but in the tests of MOR and IB only the composition of PF: molasses 100:0, 75:25, and 50:50 which had met the standard of SNI 03-2105-2006. | id |
