      Abstract

Black soldier fly’s (BSF) larvae of Hermetia illucens species contain protein nutrients that have the potential to be an alternative source of pet feed which is environmentally friendly, sustainable, and has an ideal nutrition composition. However, the usage reports are still unknown as an ingredient in cat feed. The palatability test of commercial feed with the addition of maggot protein flour aims to determine the acceptability of the feed consumed. The palatability test was carried out by monadic method or single bowl on domestic male cats in two stages, feeding adaptation and giving test feed to four treatment groups (0. 25%, 50%, and 75%) with the addition of maggot flour, each of which consisted of 3 cats. The test results obtained from the amount of daily feed consumption by means of the amount of feed given minus the amount of leftover feed. The results showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in P1 treatment of 119±15.36 (g/d) and 204±26.31 (kcal/d) in the amount of feed consumption and daily amount of cat needs. It can be concluded that BSF maggot protein flour can be a source of cat feed ingredients
