Pelvic Dislocation Treatment with Excision Arthroplasty on Two Case Studies in Dogs at Segar Veterinary Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Abstract

A pelvic dislocation, also known as hip dislocation, is a traumatic injury to the pelvis in which the joint that normally holds the pelvis onto the spine is shifted out of acetabulum. In Segar Veterinary Hospital, it is treated to restore pain-free mobility through surgery. Excision arthroplasty, often known as femoral head and neck ostectomy is a surgical approach in order to reconstruct a joint in order to restore the original function. The study was done through secondary collection of data and recording treatment procedures for pelvic dislocation with excision arthroplasty in dogs at Segar Veterinary Hospital on two case studies, from January to March 2022. A total of two case studies of pelvic dislocation were recovered over the study period for this scriptum which are Ah Girl, a 7-year-old Shih Tzu, and Sushi, a 4-year-old Pomeranian. Treatment with excision arthroplasty is recorded and the recovery of the patients within two months after the surgery done are then collected. These results serve to highlight that excision arthroplasty is a very effective way of treatment for pelvic dislocation in order to retain back the function of the extremities.

Pelvis dislokasi, juga dikenal sebagai hip dislokasi adalah cedera traumatis pada panggul yaitu sendi yang biasanya mempertahankan panggul ke tulang belakang bergeser keluar dari acetabulum. Di Rumah Sakit Hewan Segar dirawat untuk memulihkan mobilitas tanpa rasa sakit melalui operasi. Excision arthroplasty, sering dikenali sebagai ostektomi kepala dan leher femur adalah pembedahan untuk merekonstruksi sendi dengan tujuan mengembalikan fungsi aslinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data sekunder dan mencacat prosedur yang digunakan dalam pengobatan dislokasi panggul dengan pembedahan excision arthroplasty pada anjing di Rumah Sakit Hewan Segar pada dua studi kasus, dari Januari hingga Maret 2022. Sebanyak dua studi kasus pelvis dislokasi ditemukan selama masa studi untuk penulisan yaitu Shih Tzu yang berusia 7 tahun, Ah Girl, dan Sushi, Pomeranian yang berusia 4 tahun. Pengobatan dengan operasi excision arthroplasty dicatat dan pemulihan pasien dalam waktu dua bulan setelah operasi dilakukan kemudian dikumpulkan. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa excision artroplasty adalah cara pengobatan yang sangat efektif untuk dislokasi panggul dan mempertahankan kembali fungsi ekstremitas.
