Pengembangan Situs Web sebagai Media Edukasi Konservasi Kupi Gayo

Abstract

Kopi merupakan warisan budaya masyarakat Gayo, tetapi kemajuan informasi dan teknologi telah mengkontaminasi budaya tersebut. Namun di sisi lain generasi muda sangat dekat dengan teknologi dan tertarik terhadap inovasi-inovasi media digital yang dapat digunakan sebagai wadah untuk melestarikan budaya Gayo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengidentifikasi topik dan isi situs web terkait Kupi Gayo dari aspek ekonomi, budaya, dan lingkungan kemudian akan dipublikasikan melalui rancangan tampilan situs web sebagai upaya revitalisasi budaya, mengevaluasi rancangan tampilan situs web dan tingkat pengetahuan pengunjung melalui game edukasi konservasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi lapangan, kuesioner, dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari aspek ekonomi kopi memiliki nilai penting sebagai sumber penghidupan, sedangkan dari aspek budaya kopi memiliki nilai penting sebagai filosofi hidup yang mengandung norma-norma kehidupan dan digunakan dalam upacara adat. Aspek lingkungan kopi memiliki nilai penting untuk konservasi keanekaragaman hayati serta mengkonservasi tanah dan air. Rancangan tampilan situs web yang dilakukan menghasilkan 10 menu utama. Kriteria rancangan tampilan situs web adalah cukup layak dan selisih rata-rata skor pre-test dan post-test sebesar 1,366 yang menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari game edukasi konservasi terhadap peningkatan minat generasi muda untuk melestarikan budayanya.

Coffee is the cultural legacy of the Gayo people, but the advancement of information and technology has tainted this culture. Yet, the younger generation is technology literate and interested in digital media innovations. This can serve as a forum to preserve the Gayo culture. These research has several objectives: to identify the subject and content of the Gayo coffee website in relation to economic, cultural, and environmental considerations, and develop this information and publish it in a website design as an effort to revitalize the culture and to assess the website design and the visitors’ level of knowledge through conservation education games. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, questionnaires, and literature studies. Results showed that coffee has a significant economic value as a source of livelihood, while from the cultural aspect, coffee has an important value as the Gayo life philosophy that contains the norms of life and is used in traditional ceremonies. The environmental dimension of coffee has an important value for biodiversity conservation as well as for soil and water conservation. All this information have been translated into ten main menus when designing the website display. The website design criteria are acceptable with a mean difference of 1.366 between the pre-test and post-test, indicating a significant effect of the conservation education game on enhancing youth’s interest to preserve their culture.
