One of the goals of investors investing in a company is to get a return. The higher the
stock's selling price is above the purchase price, the higher the return that investors will
get. Every investor must be aware of several factors that influence stock returns,
including micro (fundamental) and macro elements. In this study, the factors used to
see their effect on stock returns are macro factors, including the exchange rate, world
crude oil prices, the Shanghai composite index, and the daily number of positive
COVID-19 cases.
The price of world crude oil plays an essential role in the Indonesian economy.
The demand for crude oil in Indonesia is still relatively high. The cost of world crude
oil or West Texas Intermediate (WTI) class of crude oil is used as a benchmark in
determining oil prices. The addition of COVID-19 cases continues to grow along with
new clusters of the spread of COVID-19. These conditions impact the Indonesian
