      Abstract
      Prediksi deforestasi hutan mangrove merupakan langkah awal dalam meminimalisir dampak kerusakan yang terjadi pada masa mendatang. Studi ini mengkaji tentang deforestasi hutan mangrove melalui pendekatan rantai Markov. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis deforestasi pada hutan mangrove selama kurun waktu tahun 1998 sampai 2018 serta membangun model prediksi deforestasi hutan mangrove tahun 2028 di PT. Kandelia Alam, Kalimantan Barat. Data utama yang dibutuhkan diantaranya citra Landsat 5 TM tahun 1998 dan 2008, serta citra Landsat 8 OLI tahun 2018. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa deforestasi terbesar terjadi pada periode 2008 – 2018 dengan luas 1.092,6 ha. Validasi model prediksi menggunakan akurasi Kappa dan mendapatkan nilai 56,01% yang dikategorikan cukup. Prediksi deforestasi pada periode 2018 – 2028 menunjukkan luas lebih tinggi daripada periode sebelumnya, yaitu 1.526,7 ha. Konversi hutan mangrove menjadi lahan terbuka merupakan kategori deforestasi yang paling dominan di kedua periode tersebut.
       
      Prediction of mangrove deforestation is the early step for reducing the impact in future time. This research study the deforestation in mangrove forest using Markov chain approach. The objective of this research is to analyze the mangrove deforestation between year 1998 and 2018, moreover to build a prediction model of mangrove deforestation in year 2028 at PT. Kandelia Alam, West Kalimantan. The main data used in this research are Landsat 5 TM imageries of year 1998 and 2008, and Landsat 8 OLI imagery of year 2018. This research found the most deforestation occured in 2008 – 2018 period with an area of 1.092,6 ha. Kappa accuracy is used to validate prediction model and draw the value of 56,01% which categorized moderate. Prediction in 2018 – 2028 period indicate higher deforestation compared to former period, that is 1.526,7 ha. Conversion of mangrove forest to bareland is the deforestation category which have the largest area in those two period.
