dc.description.abstractKebutuhan masyarakat terhadap kayu gergajian semakin meningkat, namun kayu gergajian yang bermutu semakin langka. Akibatnya, industri mebel mulai menggunakan bahan alternatif seperti medium density fiberboard (MDF). Salah satu faktor penting terkait produktivitas dalam industri mebel adalah masa pakai pisau dalam proses pengerjaan. Surface coating merupakan salah satu inovasi teknologi untuk meningkatkan daya tahan aus, sehingga akan memperpanjang masa pakai mata pisau. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan karakteristik masa pakai pisau tungsten carbide dengan bahan pengeras TiN, TiAlN, AlCrN, dan tanpa bahan pelapis sebagai kontrol pada pemotongan MDF. Proses pemotongan dilakukan pada mesin computer numerical control (CNC) router pada laju bilah per putaran yang bervariasi. Tingkat keausan dihitung berdasarkan edge recession dan delaminasi pada bagian muka pisau (clearance face). Selanjutnya, masa pakai dihitung dengan Taylor tool life. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pisau yang dilapisi bahan pengeras AlCrN menghasilkan daya tahan aus terbaik dan masa pakai terlama. Panjang pemotongan mempengaruhi jumlah aus yang diperoleh, sehingga masa pakai mata pisau semakin singkat seiring pertambahan panjang pemotonganid
dc.description.abstractThe community's need for sawn wood is increasing, but quality of sawn wood is increasingly scarce. As a result, the furniture industry has begun to use alternative materials such as medium density fiberboard (MDF). One of the important factors related to productivity in the furniture industry is the tool life in the cutting process. Surface coating is one of the technological innovations to increase wear resistance, which will extend the tool life. The purpose of this research was to determine the tool life of TiN, TiAlN, AlCrN coated tungsten carbide and uncoated (as untreated) in cutting MDF. The cutting process was carried out on a computer numerical control (CNC) router machine with various feed rate. The wear rate was calculated based on the edge recession and delamination on the blade face (clearance face). Furthermore, the tool life was calculated by Taylor tool life. The results showed that the coated tool with AlCrN coated produced the best wear resistance and the longest tool life. The length of the cut affected the amount of wear obtained, so the tool life shortened as the length of the cut increasesid
