      Ketahanan Kayu Manii (Maesopsis eminii Engll) Terimpregnasi Asam Borat dan Natrium Silikat terhadap Jamur Pelapuk dan Rayap

      Abstract
      Kayu manii (Maesopsis eminii Engll) banyak ditanam di hutan rakyat dan digunakan sebagai bahan kontruksi ringan, namun keawetannya rendah (kelas awet IV). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh pemberian asam borat dan natrium silikat, serta pemanasan terhadap ketahanan kayu dari serangan jamur pelapuk putih, rayap kayu kering, dan rayap tanah. Kayu manii diberi perlakuan kombinasi impregnasi bertingkat asam borat (5%) dan natrium silikat (1:1 v/v air) pada tekanan 7 kg cm-2 selama 4 jam serta suhu pemanasan 70 °C, 140 °C, dan steam 120 °C. Perlakuan asam borat maupun natrium silikat meningkatkan secara nyata ketahanan kayu dari jamur pelapuk putih, rayap kayu kering, dan rayap tanah. Perlakuan pemanasan 140 °C nyata meningkatkan ketahanan kayu dari jamur pelapuk putih, rayap tanah, kecuali terhadap rayap kayu kering. Impregnasi bertingkat asam borat dan natrium silikat dengan pemanasan 140 °C menghasilkan peningkatan ketahanan kayu dari jamur pelapuk putih dan rayap kayu kering yang lebih baik.
       
      Manii wood (Maesopsis eminii Engll) is planted in many community forests and used for light contructions, but has low durability (class IV). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of boric acid and sodium silicate impregnation and heat treatment on wood resistance againts white-rot fungi, dry-wood termites, and subterranean termites. Manii wood had treated with a combination of double impregnation with boric acid (5%) and sodium silicate (1:1 v/v water) with pressure 7 kg cm-2 for 4 hours and heating were 70 °C, 140 °C, and steam 120 °C. Both boric acid and sodium silicate treatments significantly increased wood resistance from white-rot fungi, dry-wood termites, and subterranean termites. The 140 °C heat treatment significantly increased the wood’s resistance against white-rot fungi, subterranean termites, except against dry-wood termites. Double impregnation of boric acid and sodium silicate followed by heating at 140 °C resulted in improved wood resistance against white-rot fungi and dry-wood termites.
