      Factors That Contributed to the Behaviour of Calico Cats in Three Different Environments in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia

      Abstract
      Calico cats are the general name for cats that are primarily white but also have patches of other colors to distinguish themselves, such as orange and black fur. Most calico cats are at least two-thirds white. Calico is not a specific breed of cat. The tricolor that can be appeared on any other breed such as Persian, Sphynx, Manx and others. The aim of this case study is to obtain knowledge particularly about calico cats that were born in household, stray or adopted behaviour towards different environment in household, during veterinary visits and outside household among other factor that contributed the behaviour such as the frequent of owner interacting with their cats. This research was designed using cross sectional study and the data were obtained from a google form survey that being distributed via messaging apps. With the total of 107 responses, 45% reported affectionate behaviour in household without visitors, 37.4% timid behaviour during veterinary visits and 42.06% aggressive behaviour during outside the house or towards other cats. The timid, aggressive, affectionate, shy and other behaviour of calico cats were reflected by the care and interaction showed from cats’ owners besides changes in different environment.
       
      Kucing calico adalah nama umum untuk kucing yang sebagian besar berwarna putih tetapi juga memiliki bintik-bintik warna lain untuk membedakan dirinya, seperti bulu oranye dan hitam. Sejumlah besar kucing belacu setidaknya dua pertiga putih. Kucing calico bukanlah jenis kucing tertentu. Warna tiga dapat muncul pada ras lain seperti Persia, Sphynx, Manx dan lainnya. Tujuan dari studi kasus ini adalah untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan perilaku terutama tentang kucing calico yang lahir di rumah, kucing jalanan atau kucing adopsi terhadap lingkungan yang berbeda dalam rumah, selama kunjungan dokter hewan dan di luar rumah antara lain faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap perilaku tersebut frekuensi pemilik bermain dengan kucing mereka. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan menggunakan studi cross sectional dan data diperoleh dari survei google form yang didistribusikan melalui aplikasi pemesanan. Dengan total 107 tanggapan, 45% melaporkan perilaku peduli dalam rumah tangga tanpa pengunjung, 37,4% perilaku malu selama kunjungan ke dokter hewan dan 42,06% perilaku agresif saat berada di luar rumah atau terhadap kucing lain. Sifat pemalu, agresif, penyayang, pemalu dan perilaku kucing calico lainnya tercermin dari perhatian dan interaksi yang diberikan dari pemilik kucing selain perubahan lingkungan yang berbeda.
