Pengetahuan Mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Kompetensi Umum Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Institut Pertanian Bogor terhadap Rabies

Abstract

Rabies merupakan salah satu penyakit zoonotik yang disebabkan oleh virus golongan Mononegavirales, famili Rhabdoviridae, genus Lyssavirus yang berdampak pada sosial-ekonomi juga kesehatan masyarakat Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengukur tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Kompetensi Umum (PPKU) Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Institut Pertanian Bogor (FKH IPB) terhadap rabies, menguji hubungan karakteristik dan pengetahuan mahasiswa FKH IPB terhadap rabies. Penelitian dirancang menggunakan kajian lapang lintas seksional (cross-sectional study). Data diperoleh melalui google form yang disebarkan kepada responden menggunakan kuesioner yang sudah disusun secara terstruktur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa PPKU FKH IPB yaitu 64,1% responden memiliki pengetahuan dengan kategori sedang, 16,1% responden dengan kategori baik, sedangkan 19,8% responden dengan kategori buruk. Dalam penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa tidak ada hubungan nyata antara jenis kelamin dan pengetahuan terhadap rabies (p=0,316), dan antara kepemilikan anjing dan pengetahuan terhadap rabies (p=0,4280). Hal ini mungkin terjadi karena responden pada penelitian ini diambil seluruhnya mahasiswa FKH.

Rabies is one of the zoonotic diseases caused by mononegavirales virus, family Rhabdoviridae, genus Lyssavirus that has an impact on socioeconomic as well as public health in Indonesia. The purpose of the research was to measure the level of knowledge on Rabies in students of the General Competency Education Program of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University, determine the relationship between characteristics and knowledge. The research was designed using cross-sectional study. The data was collected through Google form that was distributed to respondents using a structured questionnaire. The results showed that the majority (64,1%) of General Competency Education Program Students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University had knowledge with medium category, 16.1% respondents with good category, while 19.8% respondents with bad category. In this research it was found that there was no real relationship between sex and knowledge (p=0.316), and between dog ownership and knowledge (p=0.428). This result may be related to the respondents in this study which were taken entirely from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
