berbagai stadia pertumbuhan tanaman.
Towiora, Kecamatan Rio Pakava, Kabupaten Donggala, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah.
matang. Buah matang mempunyai aroma yang khas, sehingga tikus tertarik
mendatangi pakan tersebut. Terdapat empat spesies tikus yang terdapat di
perkebunan kelapa sawit yaitu Rattus tiomanicus, R. tanezumi, Rattus sp, dan
Maxomys hellwaldii, tetapi hanya dua yang menjadi spesies dominan yaitu R.
tiomanicus dan R. tanezumi. Terdapat perbedaan sangat signifikan spesies R.
tiomanicus dibandingkan dengan R. tanezumi. Populasi tikus terendah yaitu 12
aktif protozoa Sarcocystis singaporensis. | id |
dc.description.abstract | Oil palm is one of the plantation commodities that has an important role in
the Indonesian economy. Indonesia is the largest producer and exporter of palm oil
in the world, with production from 2014-2019 averaging 36.5 million tonnes, and
its export value can supply 55.78% of global consumption. Palm oil production is
highly dependent on the production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB). One of the limiting
factors of production is the rats' attack, which can reduce production by 5 - 10%.
Rats are wild animals that are important pests for humans, both in agriculture,
plantations, and settlements. Rats can damage crops at various stages of plant
growth. This study aims to determine the species of rats in oil palm plantations, to
obtain the intensity and extent of rat pest attacks, to see the distribution and
estimation of rat populations, to see the relationship between the level of attack and
the rat population, and to find out information about rat control in the field.
The research was conducted in oil palm plantations in Mertasari Village,
Pedongga Subdistrict, Pasangkayu District, West Sulawesi Province and Towiora
Village, Rio Pakava Subdistrict, Donggala District, Central Sulawesi Province.
Consumption preference test was carried out to determine the amount of daily rat
consumption and the level of oil palm fruit maturity preferred by the rats consisting
of raw, under-ripe, and ripe fruit, which were given 10% of the weight the rat. Each
block of land OC and OH used three blocks, namely observed plant yield, then
calculated the area of attack and the severity of rats' attack, trapped rat then
identified their species and calculated the estimated population of rats from each
block. After that, the yield loss in CPO/ha /year was calculated, then interviews
were conducted with plantation managers to find out information on how to control
rats in the field. The eating preference test was carried out using a randomized block
design method with three treatments and repeated eight times.
Further tests with honest significant differences (Tukey Test) with a level of
α = 5% using SAS Program version 9.3. The results of the calculation of the
intensity of the rat attack were analyzed descriptively. To compare the rat
population in the two groups, the ratio of sex, body weight, and rat species were
analyzed using the Mann Whitney Test. The relationship between damage and the
rat population was analyzed by linear regression using the Minitab 18 Program.
This study showed that rats preferred ripe fruit to raw fruit, and half-ripe had
a distinctive aroma so that the rats were attracted to the feed. There are four types
of rat species found in oil palm plantations: R. tiomanicus, R. tanezumi, Rattus sp,
and Maxomys hellwaldii, but only two are the dominant species, namely R.
tiomanicus and R. tanezumi. There is a very significant difference between R.
tiomanicus species and R. tanezumi. The lowest rat population was 12 heads/ha with
4.90% of attack intensity, and the highest population was 116 heads/ha with 15.00%
of an attack intensity. An individual rat can consume an average of 8.03 g/day,
which causes a loss of CPO 733 g/head/year. Management of rats in plantations is
carried out by cultivation control by periodically trimming oil palm fronds,
mechanical control using rat’s trap, biological control using barn owl (Tyto
rosenbergii), and control using biorodenticide with the protozoa Sarcocystis
singaporensis as an active ingredient | id |
