      Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a consumption fish that is widely cultivated in Indonesia. Artificial spawning in catfish requires killing male fish because they cannot be stripped, this condition results in the availability of males decreasing over time so that the availability of male fish is very important to meet these needs. Sex reversal (masculinization) is a method used to make a larger number of male catfish which are then prepared as prospective broodstock. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal dose of pine pollen for masculinization of catfish. The catfish seeds used were 7 days old with a density of 30 fish per 50 liters of water and were treated for 60 days. There were four different treatments, control (without the addition of pine pollen), pine pollen 0,3 g/kg feed, pine pollen 0,5 g/kg feed, and pine pollen 0,7 g/kg feed. The results showed that the percentage of male sex in the 0,3 g/kg treatment was 66,67 ± 11,55%, the dose of 0,5 g/kg was 76,67 ± 11,55%, the dose of 0,7 g/kg was 73,33 ± 5,77%, and the control treatment was 50 ± 10%. Based on the data on the percentage of male sex it is known that the best treatment is at a dose of 0,5 g/kg (P<0,05). Supplementation of pine pollen with different doses in feed can masculinize catfish seeds.
