This study aims to determine the status of local fishing technology and strategies to develop sustainable fisheries at the Kapuas Regency. The technology of the current capture fisheries are considered good because it shows five indicators with excellent category, seven indicators with good category and one indicator with bad category. Both sungkur and marine longline were the best active and passive gears operated at the sea respectively while surface gillnets was the best passive gear operated in the rivers. One of the fisheries management strategies identified was public campaign of good handling practice on unwanted catches or discards to promote fish survivorship.
